Landfillart.org - An Artist Reclamation Project - Turning Old Hubcaps into Art
Note: Submissions for this project have ended.
Ken with the Landfillart.org project is still looking for talented artists that would like to be part of the Landfill Art Project. It's a great artist reclamation project that takes old rusted hubcaps and turns them into beautiful art. If you're an artist that would like to apply for your hubcap, please visit Landfillart.org
Take a look through the online gallery to see what's been submitted.

According to Ken by mid-December he'd already received 450 completed projects all of which can be seen on the Landfillart.org website. There are approximately 500 hubcaps that are 'works in progress' and he's looking for 100 more artists to complete the goal of 1041 which will likely be met in 2010. So far, he has participants from all 50 states in the U.S. and from a total of 51 countries! Wonderful to see the response and the completed projects!

According to Ken's latest correspondence : "Our project continues to create momentum.
There have been over 850 completed projects received. All of the art
projects can be seen on our website (www.landfillart.org).
Many additional projects are presently being worked
on world wide.
A wonderful museum has expressed a sincere interest
in the Landfillart Project and has suggested that they perhaps should be the
first venue for a traveling show. The traveling show would encompass
perhaps 200 Landfillart Projects.
As a result of the potential of this museum show I
am anxious to complete the Landfillart Project.
Please pass on our website. We need
approximately 100 additional talented artists to "sign-on". If the artist
mentions your name in their e-mail it will speed-up the selection
process.
I am very excited about this museum showing and I
am reaching out to you once again for help."
So, if you are interested in participating, be sure to contact Ken as soon as possible and get your hubcap submitted. Check out the gallery online for so many great contributions to this reclamation project. -kristen
That looks great! I bet it is hard to suddenly transition into painting on a round surface. It would perplex me! :)
