My newest lace crochet pattern for a long poncho cape that can be accessorized with an optional cowl neck warmer and belt is now available as an ebook or in paperback. The book contains patterns for the basic poncho, the scarf and the belt.

This item can be worn as a traditional poncho with the long pointed corners draped in front and back or as a cape with the long pointed corners draped over the arms on the side.

The removable belt and cowl are a great way to dress up the cape for colder days.  Remove the scarf and belt and you have an easy to “throw on” garment perfect for layering on milder days.

The pattern uses lace crochet motifs to create a seamless garment that can be worn a number of ways.

As shown, I used Caron Simply Soft in Plum Wine.  The basic poncho took just over 3 skeins.  But, the entire project with scarf and belt took a little more than 4 skeins of yarn (approximately 1500 yds. in total). If you are going to make the complete garment, have 5 skeins on hand.

The open lace crochet poncho measures approximately 36” long from tip of collar to the longest point at corner.  The pattern is written as a “one size fits most”, but you can certainly modify it if you’d like a shorter, longer, or tighter cape.  This drapes beautifully and is an easy piece for layering.

Thanks for taking a look at my newest crochet pattern. Patterns are available on both Ravelry and Amazon.
