 Lace Crochet Motif Scoopneck Top

My newest crochet pattern is for a scoopneck top using lace motifs.  I used the last two skeins of my Caron Simply Soft in Plum Wine.  (The same yarn I used to make the poncho cape.).  I like this color because it is a warm enough rose color to use for fall, but pink enough to wear in spring too. I rarely crochet in rose or pink, so I was surprised at how much I liked this color.

The scoopneck top was inspired by my capelet wrap.  I liked how it turned out and envisioned a similar top but with openings for arms.  I wanted something that could be layered over a turtleneck or cowl in the fall and winter, or worn over a tank top or t-shirt in the spring and summer.  This works!

I left room for arm openings with a dropped sleeve with slightly scalloped edge.  The scalloped edge appears on the bottom as well.  I smoothed out the top with a binding foundation that tightens the neckline to a scoopneck style that goes right to the edge of the shoulders.

Additional instructions are provided in the pattern to create a belt to be worn with the garment should you desire to wear it with a more drawn in waist.
